Red River Shootout

Registration for the 3rd annual Red River Shootout is now open. This event, to be held September 29-30, will pit the DFW Curling Club against the Oklahoma Curling Club in a friendly rivalry intended to match the intensity of the Texas-Oklahoma football battle. If you are interested in signing up, please fill out the registration form and mail it to

The shootout is designed to be a simplified version of the Continental Cup, where each contestant is guaranteed 4 events: a regular curling match, skills competition, "mixed" doubles, and a skins game.

Volunteers Needed

DFW Club Members: We need you! The shootuout will require several volunteers to help make sure the event runs smoothly. If you are interested in learning how to plan a major curling event, or are just interested in helping making the event run smoothly during the weekend, please contact Justin Donaldson. Our first planning meeting is scheduled for this Saturday, July 28.

Spring Season Recap

The season ended May 20th, and trophies have again been awarded. This season's playoff format was a point spiel, with the top four teams in the regular season playing for the "A" event, and the bottom four playing for the "B" event. Team Myers won the A event, and gets to hold on to the Cardy Cup for the summer. Team Hotra won the B event, and earned the same rights for the "Not" Cardy Cup. Both teams went undefeated in the 3-game playoff. Congratulations to the winners, and we look forward to seeing everyone next season!

Texas Open Bonspiel

The books have closed on the 6th annual TOB, held May 4-6th. Thanks to everyone who played, and all those volunteers who worked tirelessly to make sure that this year's event was a huge success! The TOB had teams representing clubs from 11 states and 2 provinces, and made for a very competitive draw. The final standings are as follows:

  • TOB Champions - Powrie (DFW) defeated Knott (DFW)
  • 1st Event 3rd Place - Kleppe (WPG) defeated Chang (DFW)
  • 2nd Event - Myers (DFW) defeated Garman (AUS)
  • 3rd Event - Levy (DET) defeated Franklin (HOS)
  • 4th Event - Stigant (HOU) defeated Carlson (MIN)

In addition to the curling on ice, there were some divots being made on the greens as well. The Inaugural TOB Golf Scramble was won by the foursome from Lone Star Curling Club (Austin): Dennis Dunn, Buck Krawczyk, Jono Krawczyk, and Landon Russell. Congratulations to you as well.
