Hi DFW Curling Club Members,

We’re just over two weeks away from Steers & Beers: The First Rock, and we need your help to get the club ready!

Whether you can spare 30 minutes or the whole day, every bit of help makes a difference. No task is too small, and no amount of time is too little. If construction projects aren’t your thing, this weekend is for you! We can use help keeping our volunteers fueled with snacks, drinks, or lunch. Plus, we have A/C and Wi-Fi if you need to work remotely while lending a hand.

Brigitte, Sarah, and Liana will be at the club Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to coordinate projects, answer questions, and make sure everyone has something they can help with.

This weekend’s projects include:

• Organizing the Gathering Hall for furniture and bonspiel supplies
• Assembling new furniture (IKEA-style only!)
• Washing chairs and other bonspiel items from the garage and moving them into the Gathering Hall to make room for next week’s EXCITING work
• Moving garage items to the mezzanine and covering them to protect them from construction dust
• Pressure washing the patio and ramp area (and possibly painting if time allows!)
• Cleaning up the landscaping around the ramp (if you have extra stepping stones, we’d love to use them!)
• Inventorying bonspiel supplies (plates, cups, serving trays, utensils, etc.)
• Cleaning up and installing plastic boards along the ice walkways (bring knee pads!)
• Vacuuming each ice grid hole before ice installation begins
• Installing new commercial bathroom faucets (if donated—we need seven total)

If you can bring any of the following, we’d appreciate it:

• Shop vacs!! (please label them with your name)
• Large push brooms
• Magnetic sweeps
• Rakes
• Pressure washers
• Work gloves
• Knee pads
• Cleaning supplies and buckets
• Drinks, snacks, or lunch to share

We also welcome donations of unused Home Depot or Lowe’s gift cards to help us finish the club. Every contribution, big or small, helps us get one step closer to opening our doors.

Our club has come this far because of the incredible generosity and hard work of our members. Two big volunteer weekends remain and will make a huge difference as we prepare to welcome everyone for Steers & Beers: The First Rock.
